Finding fonts for my poster and trailer

Finding fonts for my poster and teaser trailer I will be using sites, such as Dafont, Fontyukle, Linotype, and Fontmeme in order to find potential fonts to use for my film poster and teaser trailer. I have chosen to make a horror film, so I will choose fonts that I think reflect the genre.  I will look at various different sites to try and find the fonts that I feel are appropriate and sustainable. I will be choosing approximately 10 that I think might work and I will complete a questionnaire or focus group, where my audience will tell me which fonts would be the most effective. The sites I will be looking at are Dafont, Fontyukle, Linotype and Font Meme.  How might this site be useful? Dafont  https://www.dafont.com/ Danger Zone Warning  Headliner No. 45   Plane Crash  Scorched_earth  Nervous Terror 2005 Heroin07 Blue_Baby Dafont is a good website to use because it splits all the different fonts into categories. Horror poster conventions - introduction

Horror poster conventions - introduction  Since having chosen Horror films for my marketing campaign, I will now be analyzing 10 different horror film posters. This will lead me to understanding the conventions for this genre, thus resulting in me knowing what I must be including on my own movie poster. I will be looking at them in terms of layout, font, colour and images ect.  Below are the 10 Horror posters I will be analysing

Film poster conventions

Below I have compiled a list of five conventions, which are found in film posters. I came across these conventions whilst analysing existing film posters, which have already been marketed.  I ensure I incorporate these conventions when it comes to creating my own poster.  1) Title of film - largest copy/text on the poster  2) Dominant central image  3) Billing/credits 4) Names of stars  5) Taglines Along with these conventions, some posters include over conventions. For instance, social media links, reference to different formats, sound logos, reference to associated merchandise and websites.

Poster analysis 5

The final poster which I have chosen to analyse the conventions for was a film called 'The Notebook'. This film belongs to the romance genre, and yet again none of the conventions have differed from the different posters, i've analysed, from opposing genres.  This task has made me realize that most posters share the same conventions, despite the differing film genres that they are. I have also learnt that when I am creating my own film poster, I know exactly what conventions to include as part of my marketing campaign.

Poster analysis 4

The next poster I have chosen to analyse is from a film called 'The Hangover', which is a comedy. As expected, the conventions have not differed from the other posters. For instance, so far they've all included Tag lines, film title, website, production company logos, dominant central image, billing and credits and reference to release date.

Poster analysis 3

The next film poster I am going to analyse is Spiderman. This will lead me to a direct comparison in regards to conventions from a other genres, as this is a superheroes film.  Not to my surprise, this poster shares the same conventions as the previous poster which I analysed had. This has led me to thinking that there is a pattern, which all existing film posters follow, including a particular set of conventions.

Poster analysis 2

The second poster I have chosen to analyse has been taken from a Horror genre. It is the advertising campaign for the film 'Insidious'. This poster includes the same conventions as the previous poster does. Although, unlike the other one, this poster contains mise-en-scene. This refers to the visual theme, which works as an indicator to the type of genre that the film is.

Poster analysis 1

The first film poster I am going to be analysing is La La Land as has been classified as the musical genre.  The poster conventions I found for this film were smaller images, reviews, reference to awards, film title, name of stars and star ratings. I suspect the rest of the posters I analyse to include the same conventions, despite the differing genres.

Poster analysis introduction

I am going to conduct research and analysis towards the conventions of film posters. I have looked at five different posters from a variety of genres, in order to see if there are similarities within the conventions. This will help my understanding of the depth in film posters, thus benefitting me when I am making my own.  Below are the five posters, each of different genres, which I chose to analyse the conventions of: 1) La La Land  2) Spider Man  3) Insidious 2  4) Hangover 2  5) The Notebook

Brief of coursework

This year, my A2 coursework will consist of creating a marketing campaign for an imaginary film. This campaign will include a teaser trailer, film poster and magazine front cover. I will ensure that each element of the campaign holds relevance to each other. This is in order to enable the audience to be able to justify that each element is promoting the same film. As I am not yet entirely sure on the genre of film, which I am going to be creating my campaign for, I will carry out research in regards to the conventions of magazine covers, posters and teaser trailers. This will enable me to use the conventional form in my own media products, as well as seeing if these conventions remain constant throughout.  Below I have included the magazine cover, poster and teaser trailer for the film 'Inception'. These are similar to what I will have produced by the end of my course work.
