Horror trailer genre analysis

Since having decided what genre my film is going to belong to I am now going to analyse five existing trailers for horror films. I am going to analyse them in terms of their genre conventions.

For following trailers I have chosen to look at are:

1) Saw 7

2) Annabelle

3) The Purge

4) Cult of Chucky

5) It

The first trailer I have chosen to analyse is Saw 7

-Taglines
-Certificate
-Fast pace music
-3-D taglines
-3-D parts of film
-'WILL YOU SURVIVE' tagline is directed at the viewer 'YOU'
-Pace of editing increases as the pace of music does
-Narrator speaking in the background, with a creepy sinister voice
-Bold fonts
-Cuts from significant part in trailer
-Fades into black
-Impact sounds
-Release date is Halloween

Poster analysis introduction

I am going to conduct research and analysis towards the conventions of film posters. I have looked at five different posters from a variety of genres, in order to see if there are similarities within the conventions. This will help my understanding of the depth in film posters, thus benefitting me when I am making my own. Magazine cover analysis introduction

After looking at the conventions of movie posters, I will now do the exact same, but for film magazine covers. Both film magazines I will be looking at are aimed at different audience and will both be for different front covers from a different film magazine. In terms of design and layout, I will be able to see if both film magazines share the same conventions. Below are the two film magazine covers I will be analysing:

Evaluation - what have I learnt from my audience feedback?

Within my research and planning, I constantly had my target audience in mind. I therefore conducted several questionnaires and focus groups, in order to gather information on what my audience expected in regards to different media texts, along with making decisions based on their feedback. My main aim for my marketing campaign was for it to hold authenticity and realism for the audience.
