My marketing campaign

My marketing campaign

For my marketing campaign I have decided to focus on Horror. I have completed research in order to carry this out further and understand what Horror films consist of.

Below is a link which explains what a Horror film actually is. Horror films here are described as 'a movie that seeks to elicit a physiological reaction, such as an elevated heartbeat, through the use of fear and shocking one’s audiences'.

After reading this I also learnt that Horror films main aims are to evoke audiences fears, nightmares and terrors of the 'unknown'. These include Aliens, Vampires, Monsters, Zombies, Psychopaths/Serial killers or natural/man-made disasters. There are also different sub-genres of Horror, such as: psychological horror, science fiction horror, supernatural horror, gothic horror or comedy horror.

Examples of successful Horror films are:

1) Orphan
2) Paranormal activity
3) Sinister
4) Saw
5) Annabelle

Poster analysis introduction

I am going to conduct research and analysis towards the conventions of film posters. I have looked at five different posters from a variety of genres, in order to see if there are similarities within the conventions. This will help my understanding of the depth in film posters, thus benefitting me when I am making my own.  Below are the five posters, each of different genres, which I chose to analyse the conventions of: 1) La La Land  2) Spider Man  3) Insidious 2  4) Hangover 2  5) The Notebook

Magazine cover analysis introduction

After looking at the conventions of movie posters, I will now do the exact same, but for film magazine covers. Both film magazines I will be looking at are aimed at different audience and will both be for different front covers from a different film magazine. In terms of design and layout, I will be able to see if both film magazines share the same conventions.  Below are the two film magazine covers I will be analysing:

Evaluation - what have I learnt from my audience feedback?

Within my research and planning, I constantly had my target audience in mind. I therefore conducted several questionnaires and focus groups,  in order to gather information on what my audience expected in regards to different media texts, along with making decisions based on their feedback.  My main aim for my marketing campaign was for it to hold authenticity and realism for the audience. I questionnaires which I have included below helped me achieve this: Questionnaire for poster Questionnaire for magazine cover Questionnaire for teaser trailer Additionally, I have also conducted a series of questionnaires post production of my marketing campaign. I wanted to gather feed back from my audience to see if they felt that my poster, magazine cover and teaser trailer were sustainable, accurate and convincing.  My posters questionnaire goes as follows:  1) Was the font I used effective in portraying the nature of a horror film? If so how? 2) Did you fee...
