My potential taglines

My potential taglines

After conducting research for taglines in my chosen genre, I have come up with 10 potential taglines, which I will bring forward to a focus group or on a questionnaire, in order to see which is the most popular. Following this, I will then decide if it suits my genre and film narrative.

1) It could be you next
2) Trust no one.
3) You're first love could be your first fear
4) Never turn your back
5) Watch out
6) He's coming for you
7) Run whilst you can
8) He's closer than you think
9) Betrayal
10) Boyfriend or foe
11) All is fair in love and death
12) Love only has one winner

I have decided that I am going to include the tagline 'all is fair in love and death' in my trailer. I feel as though the direct contrast being the notion of love against death is effective in portraying a sinister tone.

Poster analysis introduction

I am going to conduct research and analysis towards the conventions of film posters. I have looked at five different posters from a variety of genres, in order to see if there are similarities within the conventions. This will help my understanding of the depth in film posters, thus benefitting me when I am making my own.  Below are the five posters, each of different genres, which I chose to analyse the conventions of: 1) La La Land  2) Spider Man  3) Insidious 2  4) Hangover 2  5) The Notebook

SFX front cover analysis

This is one of the front covers from SFX magazine. SFX is a British magazine, which covers topics in the genres of popular science fictions, fantasy and horror, in different types of medias such as films, video games, comics and literature. The magazine was founded in 1995 and gets published every 4 weeks for Future PLC. The genre of the magazine can be told immediately by the 3D, silver masthead in bold. This futuristic tone has also been accompanied by a visionary dominant central image. The cover lines mention films; 'Dawn of the Apes' as well as tv shows such as 'Walking Dead', 'Super Natural' and 'Doctor Who'. All of these productions fit in with the Sci-fi genre, which SFX promotes.

Poster analysis 1

The first film poster I am going to be analysing is La La Land as has been classified as the musical genre.  The poster conventions I found for this film were smaller images, reviews, reference to awards, film title, name of stars and star ratings. I suspect the rest of the posters I analyse to include the same conventions, despite the differing genres.
